How to Reset Your Password

How to Reset Your Password

This Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) feature is specifically for your Asbury Seminary Microsoft account and allows you to reset your own password if you forgot it, or to unlock your account for Microsoft enabled logins (including MyATS, Outlook, Teams, and other Microsoft365 services).

Note: This is not for QuickLaunch account recovery, or for managing Microsoft multi-factor authentication (MFA) settings. The verification methods you register here are used specifically to verify your identity when you need to reset your password or unlock your Microsoft account.

Resetting Your Password

If you cannot remember your password, follow these steps to verify your identity and reset your password to a new password. During this process, you will be asked to verify 2 different password reset verification methods.

  1. Visit MyATS and click Can’t access your account?

  2. You will be asked which type of account you need help with; click Work or school account.

  3. Enter your full email address in the Email or Username field, enter the CAPTCHA value in the CAPTCHA field, and click Next.

  4. You will be asked why you are having trouble signing in; click I forgot my password.

  5. You will now be able to choose the first of 2 required password reset verification methods to receive a code; select your preferred method from the list, and enter the resulting 6 digit code into the field; repeat this process for the second password reset verification method.

  6. Once you have verified 2 different password reset verification methods, you will be asked to choose a new password.
Note: Your new password may not be one of the last five passwords you used, and it must meet the ATS institutional password policy.

  7. You have successfully changed your password using Self Service Password Reset.

Unlocking Your Account

If you do remember your password, but your account is locked, follow these steps to verify your identity and unlock your account without changing your password. During this process, you will be asked to verify 2 different password reset verification methods.

  1. If your account is locked, you will see an error at MyATS stating:
Your account is temporarily locked to prevent unauthorized use. Try again later, and if you still have trouble, contact your admin.
    Click Can’t access your account?

  2. You will be asked which type of account you need help with; click Work or school account.

  3. Enter your full email address in the Email or Username field, enter the CAPTCHA value in the CAPTCHA field, and click Next.

  4. You will be asked why you are having trouble signing in; click I know my password, but still can’t sign in.

  5. You will now be able to choose the first of 2 required password reset verification methods to receive a code; select your preferred method from the list, and enter the resulting 6 digit code into the field; repeat this process for the second password reset verification method.

Once you have verified 2 different password reset verification methods, your account will be unlocked and you will be able to sign in as normal.
